As a licensed athletic trainer who lives and works in New Jersey, I am writing to express my support for A-1446 / S-317 and to ask that you VOTE YES on the legislation during the Senate and Assembly Voting Sessions on Monday, June 30th, 2025. This legislation would modernize provisions of the state’s Athletic Training Licensure Act under which my colleagues in the profession and I are licensed by the state’s Athletic Training Advisory Committee. Aside from modernizing our profession’s practice act, the legislation also would afford all physically active individuals in the state the ability to access a licensed athletic trainer, not just individuals deemed “athletes” under the current law which has been in place since January 2008. Furthermore, the legislation updates state law to accurately reflect the latest national educational certification and testing organizations utilized by the NJ Division of Consumer Affairs. In my view, this legislation will finally allow licensed athletic trainers like me to maximize the use of my training and expertise, with the proper checks and balances in place, working always in a healthcare continuum which best serves patient needs from the perspective of convenience and proper medical treatment.
