Rosemarie Scolaro Moser, PhD, neuropsychologist and ATSNJ member released her new book “Ahead of the Game: The Parent’s Guide to Youth Sports Concussions” prior to the Philadelphia Soul Arena Football game in Philadelphia on Sunday, June 24, 2012. ATSNJ President, Eric Nussbaum was on hand to celebrate with Rosemarie and her staff from RSM Concussion Center, Lawrenceville, NJ. Ron Jaworski, former NFL Quarterback, Soul Owner and ESPN Analyst stopped by to join in the celebration.
Ahead of the Game is an easy to read and comprehensive guide for parents who wish to learn more about concussions and their management. Rosemarie has done a nice job of describing the concussion problem citing numerous references and providing a well described game plan for parents. She encourages parents to become knowledgeable, take an active part in their child’s treatment and recovery from a concussion. The book advocates for public education and a team approach for appropriate care. The concept of “Brain Hygiene” is introduced as part of an ideal model for student health. I encourage all parents with active children to consider reading this book.
