New Proposal to the AT Rules & Regulations

ATSNJ Members,

The Board of Medical Examiners has proposed a revision to the Athletic Trainer Rules and Regulations to address athletic trainers working outside of schools and professional teams. 

What is the purpose of the proposal?

The recently revised and adopted Athletic Trainer Rules and Regulations specified that licensed athletic trainers practicing athletic training outside of a school or professional team setting can provide athletic training to an athlete only after a physician has examined the athlete and then refers him or her to the licensed athletic trainer.  After receiving several comments regarding this issue, the Board has proposed a revision to the Rules and Regulations to allow licensed athletic trainers to provide immediate care to athletes.
