Hall of Fame - John Davis, ATC

John Davis has served the Montclair State University community for over 20 years. He has served as the Head Athletic Trainer for the Department of Athletics.

John feels his educational experience at Ursinus, West Chester, and East Stroudsburg, along with his previous assistant positions at Delaware Valley College and Amherst College prepared him well for the role of Head Athletic Trainer. He has tried to incorporate many of the ideas he was exposed to by his mentors and live up to their ideals of athletic training. During the past 17 years John has also been very involved professionally. He is the past President of the Athletic Trainers' Society of New Jersey, past Secretary of the NATA District II, and has previously served as the Secretary/ Treasurer of the Eastern Athletic Trainer' Association. He has served as the host and as a Site Administrator for the NATABOC Certification Exam. He has also worked with the United States Association of Blind Athletes. In March of 2004, John received the prestigious Vito Recine Distinguished Service Award for his professionalism and promotion of athletic training in the State of New Jersey. Finally, in the fall of 2005, he was the very first recipient of the Dr. Donald Grover Memorial Award for Athletic Training, given by the prestigious Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference.

MSU displayed its faith in John's administrative and Health Care experience by naming him Interim Director of Montclair's Center for Health and Wellness in 1997. When asked what is the most enjoyable part of his job and tenure at Montclair, John replies by saying that he enjoys seeing the alumni return to MSU and speak highly of the care and experience they received while at Montclair State. He also enjoys going to Athletic Training seminars and renewing friendships with the certified athletic trainers that have graduated from Montclair State University.

John spends his precious little off time with his wife Barbara and daughter Lindsey.
