Critical Incident Stress Management Course 2015
Certified Athletic Trainers spend their entire careers helping their athletes….but who helps them?
The ATSNJ has a Peer Support Committee to support Athletic Trainers process stressful events that may occur throughout their career.
The Peer Support Committee NEEDS you!!!
The ATSNJ is hosting a training seminar to prepare members of the committee to provide services to Athletic Trainers after stressful events such as a traumatic injury or death of an athlete.
The ATSNJ will be hosting this course in July to train Peer Support Committee members and potential new members to a single standard and we would like YOU to be a part of it!
The training is a 16 hour course given over two days. In order to avoid pre-season the course is scheduled for Sunday, July 19 and Sunday, July 26 at Princeton University. The course is eligible for 16 category A CEUs. The cost for ATSNJ members is $50.0o which covers the costs of materials, cards, etc.
The standard of training for Peer Support Committee members is the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation (ICISF) Group Crisis Intervention Course.
Designed to present the core elements of a comprehensive, systematic and multi-component crisis intervention curriculum, the Group Crisis Intervention course will prepare participants to understand a wide range of crisis intervention services. Fundamentals of Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) will be outlined and participants will leave with the knowledge and tools to provide several group crisis interventions, specifically informational and interactive processes, and the Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD). The need for appropriate follow-up services and referrals when necessary will also be discussed.
