A panel of renowned medical experts in the field of sports safety management presented the latest scientific evidence, at the Athletic Trainers’ Society of New Jersey (ATSNJ) 3rd Annual Sports Safety Summit in New Brunswick, NJ on August 1, 2012. The ATSNJ held the summit as a means to educate physicians, nurses and health care providers who play a role in protecting today's athletes. Over 200 health care providers attended this event which was held less than two weeks prior to the start of the 2012 fall youth recreation, collegiate and high school sport seasons.
The summit was covered extensively by the media. Among those, News12 New Jersey produced an excellent piece entitled "New Technology aims to help detect HS Sports Concussions". The article includes a great video.
MyCentralJersey produced an extensive article, Conference Focuses on Safe Playing in High School Football Season, focusing on the need for better enforcement on football rules already on the books and includes a variety of comments from the Summit faculty.
The Summit was broadcast live over the internet via a partnership with ConcussionTV. The entire Summit is available on the ConcussionTV site here. Apart from the actual broadcast, ConcussionTV produced a few highlight videos. Free registration with ConcussionTV is required to view the content
The ATSNJ also interviewed a few of the presenters immediately following their talks.
